Feedback from Jack Duggan:
1 - I really like the idea, honestly! A video production company focused on diversity and helping out younger students with work experience is a great concept, and something that I feel can work very well given the lack of competition in the local area (taking your word on this). Focusing on diversity can help attract people who feel under-represented and widen your client base.
2 - I think that your daily operations of producing and filming for your clients would be very successful, as you seem to be focusing on lower budget areas such as school productions and charities. This means that you don't need to have a super cinematic style for your productions, which works well given the low budget of your business starting off. Thanks to this, I believe this will be successful.
3 - I think you may encounter a problem with burnout or overworking yourself, with you being the sole employee. As you're focusing on doing all the filming and production yourself, this sounds like a lot of effort to put solely on yourself. Your clients may pile up due to the pressure unless you get more employees.
4 - I can't really say where your biggest competition will come from apart from other video production companies in the area, the few that there are. I haven't researched into how many of these there are, but I assume there's a sparse few (given the language you used).
5 - I really like the way that the second logo looks - it has a unique style to it and feels like something that I could identify from a distance. My only issues with it would be the font being a little too small and being off-center as well. The overall design, however, is very nice!
The first logo, however, I feel looks a little unprofessional. It looks like something you'd make in Microsoft Word, which I feel would make customers have a negative opinion of your business from the get-go (judging a book by its cover). Unless this logo is touched up more, I can't see it working (especially in comparison to the much nicer looking second logo).
6 - Make sure you consider a show-reel and portfolio work to show your clients before you engage with them as a way to build up their trust and make them feel more confident in hiring you for your services (if you haven't already, anyways).
Hope this is good feedback! If not, let me know and I can think of some more ideas.
Feedback from Sydney Marshall:
1 - The idea sounds great!
2 - I can definitely see this being successful as it shows to encourage young people into the industry which is a cool thing to present and to get more people interested in, especially when offering advice about it and getting work experience. It's also something that is unique and don't see often in this county.
3 - The possible problems you could encounter could be funding, since you've described about having a limited fund when setting up. Though I do think you could combat this easily by marketing all over the place, like described in sales and marketing.
4 - I think the biggest competition would come from would be mainly outside of the county since in Norfolk, I don't see as many businesses like this.
5 - I do like these logo designs a lot! I like the use of limited colours (the white, green, and black) which definitely makes it stand out, though I would say the improvements would be aimed towards the eye design as it looks great, though I think it could get confused with other types of business, so maybe you could possibly merge both the logo designs.
Also, hearing business start-up advice from industry professionals, I've learned that clients are usually hesitant to trust businesses when they have not seen their potential/ skill. To gain clients, you can offer free video production/ editing for a business to show them your potential. This is a good way to attract and keep customers who will be willing to pay for services after this.
