Induction- Research on creative online portfolios

 Researching creative digital portfolios

Art touches art; Film and video production company - https://www.arttouchesart.com/

The front page gives an initial display of the company’s work with a video showing different clips of music videos and films that they have worked on.

The masthead of the website gives links to various information on the company with dropdowns from ‘work’ and ‘about’ to allow viewers to look in depth at their portfolio.

Scrolling down on the homepage, there are headers showing their ethos and core values of the company. E.g. Originality and creativity. They also show ‘videos for your business’ showing how they will target their customers and cater to them. ‘Music video production’ ‘Travel films and tourism videos’, ‘Video concept and scripting’. The homepage focuses on showing the range of content they create and the different areas of videos.

I find their portfolio/ website aesthetically pleasing and professional due to their use of the website space and large display of their work. The images and videos become the main focus of the website and it is simplistic as backgrounds aren’t needed. Beneath the main video on the homepage, it shows a black background with more information on the company’s work. By using this simple and plain design, it doesn’t take focus away from their work, therefore expressing the company’s style purely from the portfolio of images and videos.

MHF; Make Human Films - https://mhf-creative.com/

MHF presents a still from one of their video productions with a title describing the business.

Scrolling down, the website displays ‘Video production company in Bedfordshire, London & UK’ with a information describing the company's ethos and addressing their customers directly on how they can cater to them. The homepage also displays multiple corporate videos to watch and a list of various productions that they work on. E.g., Video production services, Animation video production services, corporate photography services.

MHF’s website continues the simplistic and clean design of featuring their work on the homepage. There is also a description and ‘tagline’ for the company, giving an initial impression of the company values. ‘making corporate video content more human’. The website homepage is also professional as it presents information on the different services the company provides, appealing to customers.

Mad Cow Films, Award winning film production company - https://www.madcowfilms.co.uk/

The company displays their work in a similar way to other video productions initially on the homepage. There is a montage of different videos from the company.

The rest of the homepage is dedicated to video/ film projects that the company has worked on in the style of a timeline of when they were made. This features different stills from the videos and links to get more information on the work. There is also a link to ‘Genres’, showing contrasting work in their portfolio. ‘Content’ displays their well-known work in a clean, professional style.

Mad Cow Films presents itself as a professional and successful company by making their wide range of content the main focus of the website in a simple and professional style.

Overall most video production portfolios/ websites initially present the company’s work on the homepage and use a simplistic and minimalist style to not distract from their work of photos/ videos which perpetuate the company’s style and brand. They also target potential customers with information on how the company can cater to their needs and how their company has more skills or potential than others.
